Everyone Active, in partnership with wellbeing expert Oliver Patrick, has introduced a groundbreaking membership category called You+. This new offering targets the 85% of the population currently not engaging with gyms, providing a holistic approach to improving overall wellbeing.
The You+ membership is designed around six pillars of wellness: movement, nutrition, sleep, recovery, social wellbeing, and brain health. By focusing on these aspects, it aims to address the broader needs of individuals who may feel left out of traditional fitness environments.
Every member begins their journey with a personalized consultation to calculate their ‘Everyone Active Age,’ which assesses their lifestyle habits. Following this, they are provided with a tailored 12-week programme designed to create meaningful, lasting changes in their daily lives.
Duncan Jefford, regional director at Everyone Active, explained the motivation behind this initiative: “There’s so much misinformation in the wellbeing space right now. With You+, we’re offering members advice that’s backed by scientific research and insights from a leading physiologist. It’s about showing people how small, actionable changes can lead to life-changing results.”
Jefford also highlighted the success of their Wellness membership launched in late 2023, which attracted over 25,000 sign-ups and accounted for 25% of new fitness sales. “This demand for everyday wellness support drove us to take an even bigger step towards providing 360-degree wellness. With You+, we’re confident we can engage those who’ve been overlooked by the traditional fitness model,” he said.
The programme, developed over 12 months of extensive research, will be available at all of Everyone Active’s 240 facilities across the UK starting 30 December. To ensure its success, staff have undergone specialized training to deliver the programme effectively.
Oliver Patrick emphasized the importance of fitness professionals embracing the role of wellness professionals. “You+ creates a supportive framework to guide members in making informed lifestyle choices across six key domains. For too long, people have had no formal coaching in these areas. You+ offers a compassionate, science-backed approach to wellbeing,” Patrick explained.
Additionally, Everyone Active is addressing other barriers to fitness, particularly for women, through its collaboration with The Well HQ. The bespoke Everyone Active Women and Exercise Course equips staff with the skills to support women through key life stages, fostering an inclusive and welcoming environment.
Baz Moffat, CEO of The Well HQ, shared her hopes for this initiative: “Too many women feel gyms aren’t for them, which denies them the opportunity to build healthy habits. By training instructors to better understand and support women’s needs, we hope to inspire more women to take up fitness and feel confident in doing so.”
Through these initiatives, Everyone Active aims to transform how fitness is perceived and accessed, especially by those who have traditionally felt excluded.
